Karl Eschenburg (1900 - 1947), photography & Pauline Disonn (1948 - 2025), photo-graphics Freyja-Quartet Leipzig - August Magnusson, Sophia Eschenburg, Gonzalo Martín Rodríguez and Konstanze Pietschmann
Portraits and landscape photographs by the remarkable observer and brilliant documentary photographer Karl Eschenburg show his view of Mecklenburg around 1930. His life's journey inspires an examination of contemporary history.
Almost 100 years later, Pauline Disonn produced her last works, which also deal with landscapes and portraits. Works by a great artist and special friend.
Corresponding to this (contemporary) historical framework, the Freyja Quartet from Leipzig will play the string quartet no. 2 "Intimate Letters" by Leoš Janáček from 1928 and the quartet "Un peu de Flaine" by Przemysław Pujanek, which was premiered by the Freyja Quartet in March 2025 during their time as artists in residence at Musique à Flaine (Fr). A classical work will round off the concert.
The Freyja Quartet was founded in Leipzig in 2023 with the aim of developing innovative and new concert formats and performing their music as part of interdisciplinary projects. Consisting of the members August Magnusson, Sophia Eschenburg, Gonzalo Martín Rodríguez and Konstanze Pietschmann, they inspire audiences with their energetic style and espressive playing. Many renowned quartets such as the Artemis Quartet, the Armida Quartet, the Danel Quartet and the Ysaÿe Quartet have already accompanied the Freyja Quartet on their musical path and laid the foundations for international concerts and successes.
The exhibition is open on request by calling 039820/33721 and in July and August on Sat/Sun from 3 to 6 pm.
