The rocaille is a specific decorative element of the Baroque and Rococo periods. Sometimes it is also interpreted as a form of knowledge of the Enlightenment, which emphasizes the leaps between illusionism and reality due to the composition of the most diverse elements. The rocaille can thus take on a mediating function between imagined and real spaces and help to define them.
