Naturally Romantic

a literary jazz concert

The book "Caspar David Friedrich - Artistic and Cultural Exchange in the Baltic Sea Region" by Greifswald historian Michael North will be published as part of the anniversary year 2024. As part of a musical reading, double bassist Johannes North will give Nordic Romanticism a jazzy guise. The aim is to shed light on Caspar David Friedrich's artistic facets as a moonlight painter, nature lover and cloud researcher. To this end, the paintings discussed in the book will be set to live music. The paintings "Landscape with Northern Lights" (Jens Juel), "Shipwreck on the Norwegian Coast" (Johan Christian Dahl), "Man and Woman Contemplating the Moon" (C. D. Friedrich), "Emilia's Kilde near Copenhagen" (C. D. Friedrich) and "The Arctic Ocean" (C. D. Friedrich) will serve as links. With Caspar David Friedrich through the year 2024 - we are there!
