Festive organ concert

Robert Michaels, born in England in 1946, received music lessons at school and in church. In 1967, he temporarily left his home country to study organ and choral conducting in Milan, Cambridge, London, Zurich, Lucerne and Lugano. He completed both subjects with a concert diploma. In 1995, he completed his studies in English literature and musicology at the Open University with distinction. He has lived in Lugano since 1972. He taught English and music at the cantonal school there until 2007. He also served as organist and choirmaster at the local cathedral. In 1984, he founded the Scuola Corale della Cattedrale di Lugano, which he still directs today. He has given choir courses and workshops in Switzerland, Mexico and Spain and recorded various CDs. He was artistic director of the Fiori Musicali della Svizzera Italiana until 2019. From 2005 to 2017 he was President and is still Vice President of the Swiss Pueri Cantores Federation and was Vice President for Europe. He has given concerts in Germany, Poland, England, Spain, Mexico, Nigeria and the USA.
