With "we᾽re doing alien᾽s milk aren᾽t we", the Kunstverein für Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Schwerin is presenting the first institutional solo exhibition of British artist Emily Jones in Germany.
In her artistic practice, Jones deals with questions of individual and collective responsibility - in relation to ecological, social and economic issues. In the form of multimedia installations that are both physical and emotional in nature and combine sculptural, auditory, textual and performative elements, she creates vivid experiential spaces that address a communal ethical consciousness and encourage critical reflection on contemporary forms of coexistence. Based on her most recent artistic research into alternative educational institutions and models, Jones creates an aesthetic-experimental space of possibility in the Kunstverein's rooms that transfers objects and actors into a new, relational structure.
A central component of the exhibition is the cooperation with the StarterClub of the Mecklenburg-Schwerin State Theater and the Schwerin Child Protection Association. Together with the artist, performative formats have been and will be developed to activate the exhibition as a space for learning and learning. The first performance of the StarterClub - under the direction of theater educator Tina Koball - will take place as part of the exhibition opening on June 20, 2025 at 7:00 pm.
In addition, a summer academy for children aged 7 to 12 is planned from August 20 to 22, 2025. The three-day workshop opens up space for imagination, creative self-development and individual forms of expression. Registration is possible by e-mail or telephone (info@kvmvsn.de).
