"When someone goes on a journey, he can tell a story. So I'd take my stick and hat and choose to travel." Matthias Claudius (1740-1815) once wrote this, and anyone who follows him will confirm that you can meet both locals and other travelers in any country. Possibly also with the Danish guitarist and composer Morten Kargaard or one of his ensemble members. Especially when the Schönberg Summer of Music takes us back north again in terms of music and ideas.
Inspired by the open landscapes and beauty of Scandinavia, reminiscent of paintings by Peder Severin Krøyer (1851-1909), influenced by the changing force and power of the North Sea, the Morten Kargaard Septet resists all attempts to label it. Instead, it wants to take us on a breathtaking journey and keep our curiosity alive about what classical music is and what it can achieve. With a deep understanding of history, it fearlessly embraces the new and the unusual. In an innovative sound synthesis of seven carefully selected instruments, music grows in the stream of consciousness with changing textures, but always with inner calm and thoughtfulness.
