Western drama from the year 2017
New Mexico, 1892: The deserving officer Joseph Blocker is commissioned to accompany the Cheyenne chief Yellow Hawk, who has spent the past seven years in prison with cancer, to his tribal land in Montana. The last wish of the Indian, who is known to be relentless, is to die at home. Blocker and Yellow Hawk have a shared past, which is why Blocker is extremely reluctant to accept the assignment. Together with some soldiers and the chief's family, the troop sets off. On the way, they come across the young widow Rosalie Quaid, whose family was killed by Comanches. The traumatized woman joins them and the group continues their dangerous journey through the rough country and an extremely hostile environment. It soon becomes clear that they only have a chance in the fight for survival as a community ...Krischan Koch (NDR Info) says that the director has succeeded in creating breathtaking landscape shots, but that the film does not conjure up a myth, but is rather a highly topical plea for understanding and a rejection of division and racism: "Powerful and emotional, revealingly realistic, but also conciliatory."
