The beneficiaries are the concert-goers!
Heinrich Schütz stands for the early baroque. The organist of Westminster Abbey was regarded as the genius of his time in the English music scene. Johannes Brahms, a friend of Robert and Clara Schumann, composed an immense number of choral works and songs. He was inspired by German poetry.
Contemporary composers will also be heard:
Morten Lauridsen, born in 1943 and living on an island in Washington, is one of the most popular choral composers in the USA.
The Norwegian composer and pianist Ola Gjeilo, born in 1978, studied in Oslo, London and New York and has mainly written works for wind orchestra and piano. His musical intentions range from classical, jazz, folk and pop music.
This concert really will be a feast!
