Paul is an up-and-coming and correct lawyer. His wife Conny, on the other hand, has made fun and pleasure her way of life. After a stormy honeymoon, the young couple try to build a life together. This is not so easy, as the new apartment they have moved into turns out to be a mistake and an eccentric neighbor interferes in the marriage. To make matters worse, the mother-in-law is in and out of the apartment. The young couple's happiness is put to the test - much to the amusement of the audience.
The American playwright Neil Simon celebrated worldwide success with his affectionate tabloid comedies. The play "Barefoot in the Park", which premiered in 1963, not only made Neil Simon famous, but also a young actor named Robert Redford, who played the role of the brittle lawyer Paul in the Broadway production.
