The Neubrandenburg Regional Library cordially invites you to the prizewinner reading by Prof. Dr. Carsten Gansel from his Brigitte Reimann biography "Ich bin so gierig nach Leben" (Aufbau Verlag, 2023), awarded the Annalise Wagner Prize 2024.
"The writer Brigitte Reimann (1933 - 1973) is one of the most fascinating artistic personalities of the GDR. Her non-conformist life and her literary works still attract a large readership today. She is currently being rediscovered internationally. Neubrandenburg literary scholar Carsten Gansel has published the first comprehensive academic biography of the author. He reassesses her modern life and work from his intimate knowledge of the fractures of the era and her literary reflections."(Annalise Wagner Prize 2024 jury). Dr. Irmtraud Gutschke wrote in her laudatory speech for Prof. Dr. Gansel: "It is rare that literary studies can be so gripping. Carsten Gansel managed to make me see Brigitte Reimann in front of me as I read, indeed I wished I had her as a friend. I owe this to his immense diligence, his scientific energy and his narrative talent, his empathy for the life of a woman who is as self-confident as she is always in danger of losing herself and, last but not least, his courage of conviction in turbulent times."
Moderation: Dr. Margrid Bircken, Brigitte-Reimann-Gesellschaft e. V.
