Tourist information and welcome centres, holidays in the countryside, sustainable

The former Premonstratensian convent in Rehna is a place of peace and inspiration. Located in the middle of the Maurine-Ragedast region, the former monastery complex reflects the history of this region. Great concerts in the nuns' garden, contemporary art exhibitions in the cloister, treading water in the Kneipp pool and guided tours of the monastery garden are offered today in one of the largest monastery complexes in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The monastery town of Rehna, in the heart of northwestern Mecklenburg, lies on the little river Radegast, picturesquely nestled in a gentle, hilly landscape. With its half-timbered houses, artesian wells and the former monastery complex in the center, the town tells its story at first glance. Founded in the course of Christianization, the town is inextricably linked with the monastery. Rehna Monastery is described by many visitors as a place of tranquility. At the same time, during a visit you can learn about the eventful history of the former monastery complex. The buildings bear witness to eastern colonization, the life of the Premonstratensian nuns in northwest Mecklenburg, secularization and the administrative history of the Rehna region. The 300 m² monastery garden, newly laid out in 2004, the park around the mill pond, the Kneipp facility, art exhibitions in the cloister, concerts in the nuns' garden and five artesian wells in the town can be experienced. Special half-timbered houses are the German House with a traditional costume exhibition, the former town hall and the oldest houses in town in Mühlenstraße.

The Rehna Monastery Association offers guided tours of the monastery grounds, guided tours of the town, guided tours of the monastery garden and bicycle tours. The monastery garden with its variety of aromatic, medicinal and herbal plants is a crowd puller. Guided tours can be arranged at the monastery and town information office. Visitors can use the free parking lot behind the monastery. And the monastery café on the church square offers homemade cakes and is an ideal place to linger and enjoy. The integrated natural goods store offers natural cosmetics.

Pilgrimage and hiking trails lead from Rehna on natural field paths through a hilly yet classic Mecklenburg landscape from monastery to monastery to Zarrentin and Ratzeburg. Stops along the way are the villages, their churches visible from afar. Parsonages and simple guesthouses offer accommodations. These paths are ideal for gazing far into the landscape or paying attention to what is close at hand.
