Citizen communication center with a variety of events
The architecture of the granary reflects the Cistercian spirit of the entire monastery complex. The former granary in the middle of the oldest and best preserved monastery complex in the state is surrounded by a charming park and garden. Since the completion of its renovation, the granary has formed the civic meeting center of the town of Bad Doberan. People of all generations meet here. Established series of events such as the New Year's Concert or theater performances for children as well as international concerts delight countless guests.
Around 1290, the Kornhaus was built as part of the monastery complex. Originally, the house was twice as long. Three floors, which could be reached by a wooden staircase at the rear gable end, were used for storing grain. At times, the stables for horses were located on the first floor. Later it was converted into a town school and used as a pioneer house until 1990.
