Germany's beautiful north offers barrier-free discovery tours especially for hand cyclists and wheelchair hikers.

Six eventful tours have been tested for suitability by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Tourism Association. They lead through fragrant forests and proud towns, to idyllic villages and picturesque coasts. Depending on desire and fitness, the tours vary in length and difficulty. Accommodations, restaurants, museums and exhibition centers along the way are also geared toward guests with handicaps.

Szczecin Lagoon with sailing trip for handbikes

  • Length: 20 km
  • Etappen: 1

The border village of Altwarp is the starting point of the bike tour. Before setting off, you should enjoy fresh fish in the ancient fishing village. It smells of juniper, the well paved and signposted path leads via Vogelsang-Warsin, Bellin to the lagoon town of Ueckermünde. This is the home port of the "Wappen von Ueckermünde" (Coat of Arms of Ueckermünde). Hiring on Germany's first tall ship is welcome! Up to four wheelchair users can hoist sails themselves on day trips and multi-day cruises.

Art tour for hand bikes

  • Length: 18 km

Stages: 1 day On the Berlin-Copenhagen Cycle Route you head south from Rostock. Past paddocks and wide fields, the well paved path winds its way to the artists' colony of Schwaan. From Huckstorf to Benitz you need a little more strength for about 1 km, the climb is a good 15%. The reward awaits in Schwaan with a visit to the accessible art mill and a piece of delicious Prasselkuchen. The return journey to Rostock is by regional train.

Lake Plauer North Tour for Handbikes

  • Length: 30 km
  • Etappen: 1

Handbikers ride through the alleys of the old town of Plau directly to Lake Plau. As one of the largest lakes in Germany, it enchants with its quiet expanse and breathtaking views. Surrounded by dense reed belts and velvety green forests, dreamy bays and the "Karower Meiler" in the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heath Nature Park invite you to take a breather.

Poel island tour for hand bikes

  • Length: 16 km
  • Etappen: 1

The road with little traffic leads from Fährdorf to Gollwitz. Via a paved sandy path through a dreamy avenue along the steep coast you reach the place called "Schwarzer Busch". There you will find one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Via Kirchdorf you return to Fährdorf.

Rostock Heath for handbikes

Stages: 1 day The day tour through the Rostock Heath has a lot to offer. Whether pure nature in the coastal forest or a little adventure here and there along the way - this tour has it all.
