Stages: 1 day The Serrahn beech forests still bear witness to what the primeval forests in Germany once looked like. That is why they have been protected by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage Site since 2011. The old forest area with its lakes, moors and meadows has been largely left to its own devices for decades. Cranes, white-tailed eagles and ospreys breed in the water-rich landscape, mushrooms and insects find abundant deadwood in the natural forests and thus a habitat that has become rare.

- Tour tips: Zinow information point, observation tower at Großer Serrahnsee, exhibition "In the realm of beech trees", nature photography exhibition
Bus connection: Zinow

A forest adventure trail leads from the Zinow parking lot to the small forest village of Serrahn. On the varied tour, you can experience the development from a pine forest to a natural beech forest. Along natural forest paths and narrow trails, stations with information boards provide information about the unique vegetation. In an eavesdropping corner in a deadwood trunk you can perceive the sounds of the forest particularly intensively and on two hammocks you can see the forest from a completely different perspective. It goes through the "primeval forest" of the world natural heritage with its tree giants, the special aesthetics of standing and fallen dead trees and the young beeches striving for light. From the observation tower at the Großer Serrahnsee, you can watch sea eagles and ospreys and, with a little luck, cranes in the high reeds. A wooden footbridge leads through an intact moor to the small village of Serrahn. Here the exhibition "In the realm of the beeches" presents a lot of interesting information and little secrets that you don't recognize at first sight outside. A second exhibition shows nature photos from the Müritz National Park. During the season, a small garden café also invites you to take a break before returning to the Zinow parking lot.
