JUNGE KUNST AUS NORDEUROPA explicitly promotes young art positions. In 2024, Marie-Luise Holländer, Elias Peschke, Christina Quandt and Minttu Saarinen will present their works in a joint exhibition at the Neues Kunsthaus Ahrenshoop. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog. The artists will receive a one-month residency at Künstlerhaus Lukas.
Marie-Luise Holländer (*1998) focuses on experimentation and the exploration of processes that combine aesthetics with science. By placing natural materials in artistic environments, the artist creates fascinating experimental arrangements with which the INSOMNALE prizewinner from the Caspar David Friedrich Institute at the University of Greifswald questions nature and its relationship to human creation.
Elias Peschke (*1995) creates contexts of meaning in his objects, installations and performances that can be deciphered and understood in a similar way to our dreams. The works of the INSOMNALE prizewinner from the Caspar David Friedrich Institute at the University of Greifswald come into contact with their environment - through technical solutions that are primarily a means rather than an end - by reacting actively and dynamically to external influences.
Christina Quandt (*1997) examines the complexity of seemingly banal everyday phenomena in her works and addresses social norms and culturally rooted themes. The trained goldsmith combines classic gold and silversmithing techniques with textile craftsmanship to invite viewers to question their own values and stereotypes through the medium of jewelry.
Finnish artist Minttu Saarinen (*1987) uses acrylic painting, performance and installations with recycled materials to explore the creative interplay of tradition and modernity as well as myth and reality. In Saarinen's large-scale and colorful acrylic works, Finnish traditions and contemporary cultural phenomena are interwoven into complex narratives about the connections and behaviors of humans and other species.
