An exhibition of the Heinrich Böll Foundation MV
The exhibition "Women who move Mecklenburg-Vorpommern" by the Heinrich Böll Foundation MV aims to draw attention to extraordinary, committed and progressive women from our region. It shows how women from the north have campaigned and continue to campaign for equal rights, democracy, vibrant culture and a better life.
Many names are still unjustly unknown, as men usually play the leading role in history and still do today, while women go unnoticed.
The 19 portraits in the exhibition tell the story of extraordinary women. Whether author, doctor, civil rights activist, explorer, women's rights activist, artist, athlete, human rights activist, musician, politician, environmental activist or scientist: all of them had the courage to go their own way and helped shape our civil society in the process.
At the opening of the exhibition, cultural officer Viola Harder will present three biographies in more detail. Of course, Auguste Sprengel, who was born in Waren (Müritz) and was committed to women's rights and women's education throughout her life, will not be left out. Today, a plaque at the site of the former municipal secondary school for girls in Waren commemorates her work.
