The Kulturverein Feldberger Land e. V. is presenting an exhibition by historian and author Mathias Pfeiffer, who is passionate about traveling and photography. He visited Iran several times between 2015 and 2020. He is fascinated by the contradictions between tradition and awakening, tolerance and restriction, the obvious and the hidden.
In the photo series 'Faces of Iran', he portrays friends, acquaintances and encounters that are characterized by openness and trust.
"What is your greatest wish in life?" This simple and intimate question moves the faces at the moment the photo is taken, allowing them to look inwards and into the future.
The result is more than 30 portraits of people of all ages and genders, which take viewers into living rooms and around campfires, tell of happiness and longing and give a deep insight into Iranian society.
For the presentation, the life wishes were clustered and color-coded: People wish for freedom, a happy everyday life worth living, success at work or health and stability for the family.
Visitors to the exhibition are invited to discover, compare and question their own wishes and the social conditions in which they arise - and sometimes remain unfulfilled.
We are not organizing a vernissage for this exhibition, but a finissage. The exhibition will be on display from 05.04.24. On the last day of the exhibition, Sunday, 16.06.24, Mathias Pfeiffer will be present at 4 p.m. to give a guided tour of the exhibition and report on his travels in a short talk.
