Archaeological/historical/natural history hike with archaeologist Dr. Katrin Staude, approx. 5 km, circular route Journey through time in the Jasmund National Park: barrows and burial mounds, castle ramparts, chalk and beech trees
On this hike for young and old with the archaeologist in the scenic Jasmund National Park with wonderful views over the sea and the chalk, we start with what is probably the oldest castle rampart on Rügen: the "Hengst". Clearly visible, it was probably built directly on the cliffs around 3000 years ago. On the other hand, the excursion participants will get to know the approx. 5000-year-old megalithic tombs from the Neolithic period - the oldest buildings in northern Germany - as well as Bronze Age burial mounds and enigmatic bowl stones. Chalk, flint, the Ice Age and artifacts such as axes and blades to "understand" history also play an important role on the hike.
