The Marquise of O. after Heinrich von Kleist "In M., an important town in upper Italy, the widowed Marquise of O., a lady of excellent reputation and mother of several well-educated children, had it announced in the newspapers that she had, without her knowledge, come into other circumstances ... " Heinrich von Kleist's story of the Marquise of O begins enigmatically. How can a "lady of excellent reputation become pregnant without her knowledge"? A breathtaking sequence of events takes its course. A rollercoaster of comic, exciting and surprising moments draws the audience into the spell of what is perhaps the most unusual story of love.

And he sees how a woman wavers between socially conformist behavior and "her innermost feeling" and threatens to fail. Only when she finally decides to follow her feelings does the confusion seem to be resolved. And then the unexpected happens ...
