"The Line" (Switzerland/France/Belgium 2023)

After becoming violent once again in a dispute with her mother, the former concert pianist Christina, Margaret is placed under a strict no-contact order by the courts: She is not allowed to come within 100 meters of her mother's house for three months. Margaret seems irresistibly drawn to the invisible boundary. Again and again she comes dangerously close to the house, until her youngest half-sister Marion draws a real blue line around the property with a broad brush.

While the exalted Christina plunges into a new relationship with the younger Hervé, the line becomes the scene of her daughters' encounters: this is where Margaret gives singing lessons to the talented Marion and where they meet with the heavily pregnant Louise, the third sister. Day after day, Margaret returns to this seemingly insurmountable border under her mother's watchful eye.
