On the trail of the clock - interesting facts about the Wismar Persil clock

Since 2001, a "Persil clock" in the style of the 1920s has stood on a square in front of the former "Royal Swedish Provianthaus" in Wismar. The clock is listed as a historical landmark on Google Maps, making it easy for tourists to find and a very popular photo opportunity. After all, where can you still find these special designer clocks today? After all, there are still around 30 examples of this "advertising icon" in Germany. But how did Wismar get one of these clocks?

In the lecture, Dr. Ekkehard Hintzsche explains this phenomenon and that there was already a Persil clock in Wismar around 100 years ago. What became of it, what the clock was all about as an advertising medium for the Persil detergent - this and much more will be vividly explained using photos and documents. There is also a brief look back at the so-called "Golden Twenties". And what significance do standard clocks still have today as advertising pillars in German cities?
