HEDY KIESLER LAMARR - A monodrama by Wilhelm Pellert with Gina Pietsch and Bardo Henning

Austrian writer and director Wilhelm Pellert prefaces her life story with this sentence by Hedy Lamarr (1914-2000) in his monodrama "Hedy Kiesler Lamarr".
An extraordinary woman: Hedy Kiesler Lamarr, daughter of a wealthy Jewish family in Vienna. After initial success as an actress in her home country, she continued her career in Hollywood. Louis B. Mayer of MGM will recommend a stage name for her, and as Hedy Lamarr and "most beautiful woman of the century" in the company of Spencer Tracy, Charles Boyer, Clark Gable, Judy Garland, James Stewart and similar greats, helped her to a Hollywood career that could have been enough for a full life. Hedy Lamarr was a movie diva who turned down "Casablanca", but she was more than that. Equipped with technical talent as well, Hedy Lamarr developed the frequency hopping method together with George Antheil, the basis for today's mobile telephony. This is so recognized that her birthday, 9 November - incidentally her 110th in 2024 - is celebrated in the DACH countries as Inventors' Day.
The actress and singer Gina Pietsch will playfully recount this multifaceted life, complemented by thematically related songs by Brecht, Eisler, Kästner, Kreisler, Ringelnatz, Tucholsky, Weill and others, accompanied by Bardo Henning on the piano.
From 18:30 there will be catering with food and drinks in the garden of the Brigitte-Reimann-Literaturhaus.
