Orchestra meets tuba and film music
Things get fast-paced when the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Youth Orchestra, the young French tuba player Thomas Leleu and music by his compatriot Jean-Philippe Vanbeselaere come together. As intoxicating and almost cinematic as the finale of the concert with the composition "Convergences" sounds, it is in a straight line to the opening of the evening. The young orchestra actually performs this with film music - by Nino Rota. Rota created the composition for Federico Fellini's masterpiece "La Strada", which was released in cinemas in 1954. He later turned it into a ballet suite for orchestra, which congenially brings the drama of the "Song of the Road", as the film title translates into German, to the concert stage. An evening full of musical head cinema - with the instrument of the year, which is the tuba 2024!
