Americana - Folk with swedish roots
Sofia Talvik grew up on a Swedish island on the west coast. With a fusion of Nordic elements and strong American influences, the singer creates unique and completely new folk music. Her crystal-clear, delicate yet powerful voice is reminiscent of famous role models such as the Canadian singer/songwriter Joni Mitchell. In Talvik's songs, joyful moments meet darker ones, and she is a passionate storyteller.
Although she may initially seem like a fairy-like flower child to some, her songs are not just about dreams and magic and her voice captivates the audience with its tenderness and delicacy as well as its power. With every song, she transports her audience anew into a profound world of thought and sings stories that are surprisingly true to life despite her own language. She shares many great moments with her audience in sunny songs that radiate joy. But she also dedicates song moments to somewhat darker experiences.
Sofia Talvik has just released a studio album "Paws Of a Bear". The album reflects inwards rather than outwards and explores ideas about identity and home. The first single "Take Me Home" has been featured on many radio stations in the US and Europe.
Get ready for a unique evening, just like in the speakeasy bars of the 70s. You'll get up close and personal with a world-class act that has played major festivals like Lollapalooza and SxSW and opened for artists like Maria Suzanne Vega, Maria McKee and David Duchovny (X-files, Californication). It's in this intimate setting, cracking jokes and communicating with the audience, that her strength as an artist is at its greatest.
