Objects, pictures, carpets, furs made from the shorn wool of old sheep breeds, drawings, embroideries.
Wool, thread and fabric are the materials that Silke Daniel likes to use most in her studio. She creates objects, pictures, carpets and furs from the shorn fleece of old sheep breeds from the Schaalsee region. These include wall hangings with abstract, raised and haptically interesting shapes. Objects that are modeled on African masks or depict "wild guys". In addition, there are photos and building plans that are embroidered and reinterpreted, and illustrations colored with oil paints that depict fantasy figures in power structures.
Of all the materials, wool occupies a prominent place in her work as an artistic raw material. For example, Silke Daniel works with the wool of her own sheep. The further processing of shorn wool is a very physical and vital process in the course of which the artistic idea emerges.
Power and relationship structures are an important theme in Silke Daniel's textile art.
