Queen cover! A rock symphony by Rockfonie!
A rock concert in a class of its own - Rockfonie Leipzig has been back since March 2019. After a creative break and social changes, Rockfonie are back on tour. They pay tribute to the immortal songs of Queen and Freddie Mercury.
Christa, Claus, Wolfram, Jens, Klaus and Karli have always liked rock music. The word Fonie, which stands for tone/sound, was to complete the band's name. In 1979, rock music enthusiasts from the GDR, including Wolfram Löser (guitar) and Klaus Müller (drums), founded the band. Until 1987, they played rock classics and their own songs (which were published by Amiga, among others) at various venues and TV recordings in Germany and abroad. Queen covers!
They have always had a soft spot for the music of the band Queen. This spirit was rekindled at a musicians' reunion in 2017. After 30 years, there was to be a reunion of the band. Unfortunately, not all former members were interested. So the missing positions were filled by experienced musicians. Jens Pfretzschner has been on keyboards ever since. A trained musician who, among other things, spent 3 years in South Africa/Durban and at the Hessian radio station. Many also know him as the initiator of the open-air spectacle - Philharmonic Rock - at the Göltzschtalbrücke. On bass Karli, he came from deep in the West. His musical cradle was in Leipzig. A veteran of ZOE. Christa Löser was also a new addition to the vocal section, and not just for the sake of ratings.
For years she was on the road at home and abroad with Musikservice Leipzig. Her counterpart Claus Kulisch, who took over Rainer Seifert's position as vocalist (who was still with the band at the beginning as a veteran rock musician), completed the band. Since then they have been touring the country with their Queen cover program. Initially in small clubs, but over time the stages got bigger and the audiences more numerous. The numbers on the social network platforms bear witness to this. Corona, the virus that changed everything, put a stop to the trend of live performances. New ideas were born. Concerts moved online, smaller but increasingly personal. Facebook and YouTube were the new concert stages. Direct contact with fans was established and cultivated.
Word got around. The audience at the living room concerts thanked us by attending the first live concert. Around1000 rock fans turned up! Unthinkable without light and sound. Gregor (sound) and Luca (light design) are the experts.
