The Zernikow Knights' Festival invites you on a journey back in time to the Middle Ages. On the estate grounds you can experience knightly camp life as well as historical crafts, music and dance. Children are invited on a treasure hunt in the footsteps of the Black Knight. A falconer demonstrates how to handle birds of prey.
"The griffin comes to Zernikow" - that is the motto of this year's knights' festival on June 8. One of the main attractions in 2024 - hence the motto - is a falconer who will present his birds of prey and provide information about ancient hunting methods. There will once again be a special focus on activities for children, including crossbow shooting, axe throwing, face painting and a straw bouncy castle. The treasure hunt, for which all children are allowed to dress up, and in which the legend of the Black Knight and the Schlitterstein of Zernikow is re-enacted, is a highlight.
The Berlin Knights' Guild and the Banner of the Lilies provide a historical spectacle. Camp life and show fights with sword and shield will be on display. The Staatz zu Steinhövel noble family with their children's games, a juggler show, Grey-Wuschel, the confused sorceress, the mouse tower and a Kiepenkaspar called Camillo have also been announced. Medieval crafts will enliven the estate grounds: Wood turning, spinning, weaving, blacksmithing, bread baking in the historic stone oven.
The FreyDanse group will provide the musical backdrop with live music from these times. Herald Scott McGlencairn will guide you through the program. Of course, there will be food and drink befitting the occasion: wild boar, water, draught beer, as well as coffee, cake, ice cream and other delicacies. The festival begins at 12 noon in the courtyard of the Zernikow estate. The parade through the village with music and in costume takes place between 1 and 1.30 pm.
