"Tree - My Big Brother" a declaration of love
June 13, 2024 | 7 p.m. | Concert pavilion in the Rhododendron Park
Event of the Literature Week 2024

Texts by Hermann Hesse, Hans-Christian Andersen, Heinrich Heine and others.
Reading: actress Sibylle Kuhne

"Trees have always had a special meaning for us humans. They were the seat of the gods and places of judgment, they embody strength and fertility, offer protection, provide shade and food, and supply firewood and timber." (Doris Laudert "Mythos Baum")

Trees have always inspired poets as a parable of growth and decay. "I want to grow old like an old tree." (Louis Fürnberg)

Trees can live for hundreds of years, survive wars, see death and love.

Birch trees are decorated as messengers of love on Valentine's Day, fir trees shine in Christmas splendor.

Since Walther von der Vogelweide, the lime tree has been a symbol of German love poetry, alongside the rose, the nightingale and the forest.

We seek inner peace and want to feel ourselves when we embrace trees.

Experience a literary program full of poetry. "Strange to wander in the fog!" (Hermann Hesse)

Sibylle Kuhne is an actress and a sought-after speaker. She studied acting at the Theaterhochschule Leipzig. Engagements in Leipzig and Rostock followed, and from the mid-80s onwards throughout Germany, including Stuttgart, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich.

Sibylle Kuhne is co-founder of the "Siegburger Freilichtspiele", speaks audio books, dubs and successfully creates literary-musical programs.
