The Waren City Library invites all interested parties to attend the reading of the novel "The Doubter" with author Hans-Jürgen Ahnsehl on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 5:00 pm.
With his novel, the author wants to draw attention to the still current problem of East-West relations, in particular the continuing lack of recognition of East German life achievements.
In his second novel "Der Zweifler", published by IDEA Verlag in 2023, he describes the life of East German manager Jörg Alsleben in exemplary fashion, with all its ups and downs, the piling up of difficulties due to often state-imposed hurdles that constantly required decisions and new courses to be set.
Alsleben often doubts the correctness of political events, bureaucratic decisions and the social system. He is also critical of the problem of merging the two social systems that have developed in different ways - with the resulting burdens for the individual and their life's work.
Will Jörg Alsleben be able to continue his career as a manager under the new social conditions, despite all the disappointing resistance, prejudices and clichéd ideas that cloud the joy of reunification?
Reading in Waren is a special concern for the author, as he himself was a Waren resident for 15 years before moving to the Lübzer brewery, where he was the commercial manager for 22 years. Around a quarter of the book is set in Waren during the GDR era.
