Postrock, shoegaze and metal from Aurich in East Frisia
When the power of post-rock meets the floating sound of eighties shoegaze, it becomes clear that this band needs no words to take the listener on a journey.
MMTH came out of nowhere in 2017 with their debut album 'Paternoster'. The quartet from the North Sea got off to a fast start; Demo of the Month in Visions magazine, 10 Best New Acts in the Arctic Drones online voting, placements on scene samplers. This was followed by shows in Germany and the Netherlands with Rosetta, Public Service Broadcasting, Hemelbestormer, Coastlands and Spoiwo, as well as a tour with their colleagues from The Clouds Will Clear.
MMTH's sound is drier than classic post-rock; there is more emphasis on the groove, with guitar riffs standing on their own here and there. Atmosphere is created more through contrasts. The members themselves describe the whole thing simply as instrumental rock.
MMTH pushes the contrasts in their music even further apart on this release. Nevertheless, dreamy melodies and bare riffs meet at eye level and form a common thread. Their new album 'Infinite Heights' sounds like a conclusion and a new start at the same time.
