"It should not be called Bach, but the sea!" Beethoven's famous bon mot describes exactly the ten concerts that are particularly inspired by the work of Johann Sebastian Bach this festival summer.
Star pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard is known above all for his deeply felt interpretations of 20th century music. However, his recording of Bach's "Art of Fugue" (Deutsche Grammophon), which was documented in the film "Pianomania", also shows that he is an outstanding Bach interpreter. Both talents are combined in the program that will be performed on this solo evening in the Mecklenburg State Theatre's Great House. György Kurtág's collection "Játékok" (Games) is made up of numerous miniatures that resemble a kind of game with the possibilities of the piano. In combination with Kurtág's short pieces, the equally playful nature of Bach's contrapuntal and combinatorial practices comes to the fore.
