Joachim Weyrich, born in 1945 in Apolda, Thuringia, was the owner of the art shop "Die Truhe" in Graal-Müritz for many years. As an autodidact, he learned drawing, perspective and the division of space from scratch and took part in painting courses. In Rostock, under the guidance of Waldemar Krämer, he developed contemporary works of art that often reflect the beauty of Graal-Müritz and its surroundings. His preferred way of working is painting outdoors, where he captures his impressions on paper or canvas. With a broad repertoire of techniques ranging from graphics, pastels and watercolors to oil painting, his work includes landscapes, still lifes and portraits.
His artistic recognition extends far beyond the borders of his home town, where he worked as a teacher and chronicler of the village.
Through his commitment to the cultural assets of Graal-Müritz and his knowledge of the history of the Baltic health spa, he has made a significant contribution to the preservation and maintenance of its cultural heritage.
