This exhibition shows 100 plastic bags from GDR production.
This exhibition shows 100 plastic bags from GDR production. There are objects from the areas of production, trade, tourism, politics, state organizations and anniversaries. There are bags for the participants of pioneer meetings, youth festivals and workers' festivals in the exhibition. They illustrate a section of the history of the GDR. The collection contains a large number of bags used by companies. There are also bags from the consumer sector. Many bags bear witness to the creativity of the designers. In the last decades of the GDR, the bags were produced in the 2 large factories VEB Optima in Aschersleben and VEB Verpackungsmittelwerk Schwerin. The first plastic bags were produced in the GDR as early as the end of the 1950s. Compared to the bags produced at the end of the 1980s, they look antiquated. You can see the technical progress in the bags on display. The 100 bags on display come from the Dieter Luchs collection in Bützow. It comprises a total of 450 bags. The exhibition is accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation.
