MUSIK KUNST Parcours

On Thursday, 27 June 2024, all state-approved and funded music and youth art schools in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern invite you to the Musik-Kunst-Parcours MV in Schwerin's city centre - from the market to the Pfaffenteich. From 12 noon, more than 40 ensembles, bands, dance groups and orchestras from all parts of the state will surprise visitors on three stages with an exhilarating program of music and dance performances.Performers include the Schwerin Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Rostock rock band "So was von Pepe" and dance groups from music schools and youth art schools.

Exciting art activities invite guests to experiment. They can get a picture of themselves in the analog photo lab on the market square, colorfully design Mecklenburgstraße or lend a hand in creating a giant sculpture on the southern shore of Pfaffenteich. Exhibitions, performances and musical stations with jazz, klezmer, flamenco and street music line Schmiedestraße, so come along and listen, watch and join in. Everyone is invited to free concerts, performances and art projects.
Bettina Martin, Minister for Science, Culture, Federal and European Affairs of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, is the patron of the event, which she will open at 2:15 p.m. together with Schwerin's Lord Mayor Dr. Rico Badenschier.

Background

Cultural education should remain possible for all children and young people, regardless of family income and place of residence. However, funding for music and youth art school structures in the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern has been far too low for a long time and changes in the framework conditions for employment have made the situation even more difficult. The fair payment of staff is just as much a problem as the permanent self-exploitation of teachers at many schools due to structural underfunding. The associations are urgently demanding a solution from politicians. In future, there will be an increasing shortage of teachers in artistic subjects at general education schools. It is all the more serious when even the children who are really enthusiastic about art and music can no longer find any opportunities.
