International Museum Day
The historic tile pottery on the Teschenberg was built 120 years ago. From 1905, kiln tiles were formed and fired here, later the premises were used as a storage room. After reunification, it was the ceramics designer Franz Poppe from Waren who campaigned to preserve the building as a museum. For over 20 years, this unique technical monument in Mecklenburg has been open to the public and tells the story of the world of tiled stoves.
On International Museum Day on May 18, 2025, the tile kiln will reopen as it does every year. Celebrate the start of the summer season with us!
Guided tours of the house will be offered every two hours from 1 pm. You can browse at a joint bookstall with the city library and enjoy coffee and cake. Children can look forward to a creative offer and of course clay plays a role: Cornelia Poppe will show some of her pottery, which can also be purchased. There will also be the traditional spectacular mini raku firing.
A small exhibition, which was shown for a short time in the city museum in summer 2024, commemorates the artist Franz Poppe, who died last year.
Admission is free.
