"Frau Fischer, Ilsebill" by Katrin Lange is a modern variation on the well-known fairy tale of the fisherman and his wife.
The fisherman works on a large trawler and often spends weeks at sea. His wife Ilse is employed in a fish processing company. Although the two of them lack for everything, they love each other dearly and manage to get along until the fisherman catches a butt while fishing, which promises to fulfill his every wish.
In the frenzy between desire and fulfillment, it is not only the hardships of everyday life that are thrown overboard.
