A musical journey through Spain, Portugal and across the sea to Latin America inspired by flamenco, fado, choro and tango. Virtuosic and delicate, heard and invented for fantasy and to feel good.
In "mediterran - atlántico" Oliver Jaeger offers a mixture of classical music, Brazilian salon music, flamenco, Portuguese sounds, music from Latin America and West Africa. As one of very few he plays the unknown "Symphonetta", a bellows instrument that was very popular until the 20/30s. With it and with guitar and bandoneon he tells of the view of nature, of encounters with people, of the joy of wonder and longing. The press describes this as "sound poetry and shimmering improvisations, beautifully searching for the stars in the sky of imagination."
He adds: "Music from Spain, the Mediterranean and Atlantic has always fascinated me - that's how I came to the guitar. The silvery melancholic sound of the bandoneon has also stayed with me. Recently, I've been discovering the symphonetta, which had fallen into oblivion, and I'm looking forward to a musical voyage of discovery - with my audience."
Biography:
Spanish music and rock music inspired Oliver Jaeger to play the guitar as a teenager. Trained on the classical guitar by Jürgen Klatt (Frankfurt/Main), he was first a member of the German Guitar Ensemble. Afterwards he immersed himself in the playing of the flamenco guitar with Guido Duclos and Rainer Dehn ("Flamenco-Rubio"). Since the 90's he has been performing in various crossover projects. Known for his "Duo Fado Instrumental", he has been attracting attention with a solo program since 2011, in which he also presents the bandoneon or symphonetta since 2016.
