Two ensembles that have enjoyed great success, including winning the German Youth Orchestra Prize and the Silver Diploma at the Prague choir competition YoungBohemia. The program includes the solemn Messe breve No. 7 by French composer Charles Gounod and Jubilate Deo by Franz Xaver Richter - works that bring the two ensembles together. In addition, each ensemble will also perform its own repertoire. The youth choir of the Goethe-Gymnasium Schwerin looks back on a tradition of more than 60 years. After German reunification, the choir was able to build on its earlier successes under the direction of Bernd Spitzbarth. In 2014, a youth chamber choir and a youth choir emerged from this choir, which has been under the artistic direction of Dr. Daniel Ortuño-Stühring since 2015. The repertoire of the youth choir includes choral works from four centuries as well as folk songs, spirituals and pop songs. The choir is made up of 70 singers from grades 7 to 12. The Schwerin Youth Symphony Orchestra has existed in its current form since 2011 as a joint orchestra of the Schwerin Conservatory and the music and art school ATARAXIA e. V. Since 2011, the JSO has gained many new members and now consists of almost 60 young musicians. Berlin-based German-Brazilian conductor Stefan R. Kelber has led the JSO Schwerin since 2013. In 2017, he also took over the direction of the JSOkids youth orchestra.
