On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the renowned journalist and author Hella Kemper invites you to a reading from the highly acclaimed essay collection "STRAND". The event will take place from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the latest in the concert pavilion in the Rhododendron Park Graal-Müritz - a place that is perfect for a literary journey to the coasts of Europe.
"STRAND", created in collaboration with marine researcher Karsten Reise, is a clever, poetic and surprising approach to those narrow zones between land and sea that are so commonplace and yet so mysterious. With a scientific, art-historical and very personal perspective, the authors shed light on how beaches are created, what threatens them - and what they mean. Whether the North Sea or the Baltic Sea, southern Sweden or northern Norway - time and again, the beach becomes a stage for memories, dreams and insights.
Hella Kemper, editor at ZEIT Wissen for many years, takes the audience to those places where water meets land - literarily penetrated, atmospherically dense, and always with an eye for the essentials: the beauty of nature and its fragility.
