Orchestra concert with "SPEELSCHARE"
The SPEELSCHARE is an orchestra of around 40 young musicians from the Diksmuide region in Belgium. The orchestra was founded in 1980 by Gino Malfait, then a music teacher at the St Aloysius College in Diksmuide. Gino Malfait still has a hand in directing the orchestra. The key theme of the beginning still applies today. We give young people the feeling that they can make music together.
You can't call the SPEELSCHARE a fanfare or a band. All instruments have their turn. That's why some violinists and guitarists are also members of the orchestra.
The Speelschare practise their pieces every Sunday morning. The repertoire is varied and includes not only transcriptions of pop and rock songs, but also classically inspired pieces and jazz arrangements.
The orchestra aims to combine its music with young energy. The young musicians thus play several concerts during the year. The highlight of the year is undoubtedly the annual concert tour at the beginning of the summer vacation. The SPEELSCHARE have already performed in Germany, England, the Netherlands, Austria, France, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Spain, Switzerland, Greece, Sicily, Portugal and Ireland.
