"Concrete art is the creation of the visually perceptible, for the realization of which color, space, light and movement are the prerequisites

"Concrete art is the creation of the visually perceptible, for the realization of which color, space, light and movement contain the prerequisites. Tangible works are created through the relationship of these elements and through their formation on the basis of a purely intellectual, creative concept." Max Bill

Three artists were invited as guests to complement some of Anka Kröhnke's constructive reliefs made of stacked wood or other found objects.

Christian Egelhaaf, who lives in Mustin, will offer an attractive variation on the theme with a constantly changing video installation.

Bernd Kommnick, from Neubrandenburg, will be showing drawings reduced to a few lines, black forms composed asymmetrically into squares and transparent reliefs. Sculptor Dieter Koswig from Eggstedt cuts up and shapes found pipes and iron plates into highly interesting constructive sculptures.

" The concept of concrete art emerged around 1930, but the phenomenon is already a decade older and we encounter it in the work of Kandinsky, Mondrian and Malevich. Concrete art is simple, usually geometric and created using a precise technique. Concrete art categorically excludes any imitation or depiction of nature. Since it does not abstract from anything, strictly speaking it should not even be called abstract. This means:: A work of art means ONLY itself, refers ONLY to itself. The term commonly used in this context is "self-referential", i.e. self-referential." Regina Erbentraut
