Brazilian soundscapes in Schwerin
The music and art school Ataraxia invites you to a special musical experience as part of the "Hörwelten" concert series: Caramuru & Forró de KA present a rousing fusion of Brazilian rhythms and European sound art.
The charismatic singer, guitarist and composer Ítalo Caramuru, born on the island of São Luís in north-eastern Brazil and now based in Karlsruhe, leads the audience through a repertoire of his own compositions and selected covers with his soulful voice and energetic performance. His music combines elements of jazz, reggae, Afro and Latin, sung in Portuguese, German and English, creating a unique soundscape.
At his side are outstanding musicians who together form the ensemble Forró de KA:
- Vítor Diniz on the flute, orchestral musician, soloist and lecturer at the Stuttgart Music School.
- Alex de Almeida on accordion, a Hohner endorser from southern Brazil, known for his cross-genre compositions and productions.
- Johann Ahl de Oliveira on electric bass, principal of Ataraxia since January 2024 and former member of the Ouro Preto orchestra, which was nominated for a Latin Grammy with the album "Latinidades".
- Mario Maradei on percussion, a Colombian musician and current lecturer at the Mannheim University of Music.
This international formation, consisting of artists with South American roots who have found their new home in Germany, brings a lively mixture of traditional forró and other Brazilian rhythms to the stage. Their interplay promises a concert full of passion, virtuosity and cultural diversity.
The Hörwelten series is supported by NDR cultural funding.
