"Up goes the big wagon" - introduction, film, exhibition
as part of the Graal-Müritz Literature Week
The author, director and journalist Herbert Nachbar lived here with his family from 1963 to 1969 in the "Ithaka" house, now the Bäderbibliothek.
The German Broadcasting Archive has provided us with the DEFA film "Oben fährt der große Wagen". It was filmed in 1966 based on a book of the same name by the author. Krischan and Andrea are trapped for a night in a centuries-old church tower, seemingly separated from the outside world. They try to find out about each other: Who are you, and how did you get that way?
We show the film, give a short introduction to the life and work of the author and show photographs provided by the family. You will also find a permanent exhibition on Herbert Nachbar on the 1st floor of Haus "Ithaka".
