From 1989 to 1997, Harry Wijnvoord hosted one of Germany's most popular game shows, entertaining a huge TV audience day in, day out with wit, charm and nerve-tingling games to win the next big prize. "The prize is hot" made the presenter, who was born in The Hague, an established figure in the German TV landscape.
Harry Wijnvoord's career began very down-to-earth with an apprenticeship as an assistant for business and tax consultants. However, such a desk job did not seem to fit in with the Dutchman's idea of life with a huge dose of charisma in his blood. That's why the future presenter first tried his hand as a sales representative for an airline and later for a shipping company.
It was only when he was discovered by RTL's head of entertainment in 1989 and hired to present "Der Preis ist heiß" that his TV career took off.
2022 a new edition of the popular 1990s TV quiz brought him back to the screens in people's living rooms.
