FINALE - SINFONY CONCERT No. 10

The last Philharmonic concert of the season will feature a reunion with guest soloists from previous seasons. For the performance of Joseph Haydn's Sinfonia concertante, Sebastian Tewinkel has invited artist in residence Kai Frömbgen (oboe), bassoonist Rie Koyama, Tobias Feldmann (violin) and Maximilian Hornung (cello). All of them have already performed concerts together with the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic Orchestra. As former artists in residence, Tobias Feldmann and Maximilian Hornung have even been on stage with the orchestra several times! Now they play in the grand finale of Sebastian Tewinkel, who conducts an entitlement concert of the Neubrandenburg Philharmonic for the last time as chief conductor.

After Haydn's Sinfonia with no less than four soloists, Gustav Mahler's 1st Symphony provides special splendor: the work is conceived as a whole towards a redemptive finale. "... the ultimate goal of art always seems to me to be liberation and uplifting from suffering. This is not absent from my First Symphony, but of course it only achieves victory in the death of my struggling Titan, who (...) again and again receives a blow on the head from fate and sinks anew" (Mahler). For a time, the symphony bore the epithet "Titan," referring to Jean Paul's novel of the same name.
