The big open air at Bothmer Castle
A great wish comes true for the SIGNUM saxophone quartet with this concert: a musical encounter with the versatile Turkish star pianist Fazil Say. Say's jazz fantasies, who has also long since made a name for himself as a composer, make it clear how much not only classical music but also other styles are in his blood. So what piece is better suited for the encounter between the four saxophonists and the pianist than Gershwin's jazz and blues-infused 'Rhapsody in Blue'?
Say has been regarded as a sensitive interpreter of the Bonn composer at the latest since the release of the complete Beethoven sonatas in 2020, so a special feast for the ears can be expected when the Turkish pianist gives a second example of his art: Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto, performed together with the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra.
An auspicious evening in the unique setting of Bothmer Castle with a program that is as varied as it is rousing, traditionally crowned by fireworks (subject to change).
