This summer, we are once again showing the biographical film "Fallada - Last Chapter". The film was shot in Carwitz and Feldberg and will be shown every Wednesday at 5 p.m. from June 26 to August 28.
Info about the movie:
Hans Fallada, one of the few important and time-critical authors who remained in Germany after 1933, comes under increasing pressure from the National Socialists. Torn between his conscience and his willingness to compromise, he struggles with psychological and physical problems. His writer's block led to an addiction to pills and alcohol.
After the war, the Red Army appoints Fallada as mayor, but he struggles with the unfamiliar office and his situation does not improve. His attempt to fight weakness, depression, alcohol and morphine in Berlin fails. His first post-war novel, "Jeder stirbt für sich allein" (Everyone Dies Alone), literally drains his strength.
The film captivates with its outstanding actors and deeply human drama. Corinna Harfouch shines as the cool and beautiful Nazi spy in contrast to the choleric and greedy Fallada.
