Lecture & Science

Photo lecture and talk with Mathias Pfeiffer. At the end of the current exhibition "What is your greatest wish - Faces of Iran", the Kulturverein Feldberger Land e. V. invites you to a special event.

Between 2015 and 2020, historian and author Mathias Pfeiffer traveled to Iran a total of nine times. He made friends, learned the language and explored this fascinating country. During his travels, he gained insights into an ambivalent world: a fairytale-like and ambivalent Orient with a time-honored culture whose delights and stories enchant, and its proud and hospitable people, who come to terms with modernity and political reality in different ways. For example, Pfeifer was surprised to learn that Iran is not only much younger, but also much more digital than Germany. The omnipresent portraits of those in power, on the other hand, reminded him of his own childhood in the GDR.

At the finissage of the current exhibition "What is your greatest wish - Faces of Iran", Mathias Pfeiffer will report on his travels in a photo lecture, addressing the contradictions between tradition and awakening, between tolerance and restriction, between the obvious and the hidden. Afterwards, he will be available for questions and discussions.
