Contemporary art by a Neustrelitz artist AMISMWK, also known as Anna-Maria Ingrid Sabine Mia Weipert Klinggraff
If you look at the faces of the characters drawn by AMISMWK, also known as Anna-Maria Ingrid Sabine Mia Weipert Klingraff, you quickly realize that something is different here. Of course, the pupils of the eyes are often obvious, appearing as a long slit, as in goats, which makes you wonder whether these creatures themselves might have a different visual perception. Less obvious, but still subtle, these characters radiate a deep melancholy. It is rare to see several figures in one work, which AMISMWK draws primarily digitally. Here, similar to cinematic close-ups, we look directly into the faces of these quietly sad beings and can sense their loneliness in the visual encounter.
AMISMWK is a very young artist whose oeuvre skillfully blends the influences of manga, fashion drawings and fantasy images. Some figures have pointed ears, horns, there are butterflies, snails or other animals that seem to live symbiotically and decoratively on the heads of these figures.
What is really impressive, however, is the young Neustrelitz artist's use of color. AMISMWK works with color in such a high-contrast and playfully light way that all her portraits, despite their inherent melancholy, emanate a magic and glow that is hard to resist. Moreover, it is also the digital manifestations of the paint application that are astonishing: sometimes the paint application appears powdery, as in make-up, then again fluid and oily, or even watercolor-like and translucent, creating figures on the sheet that are both exciting and magical.
The encounters on paper, but also on canvas, have a long-lasting effect and remain etched in our visual memory.
Deviating from our otherwise established opening day Friday, and opening time, this exhibition "lunarkalb" by AMISMWK will open on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 5.30 pm . This offers all lovers of young art a space for discoveries, discussions and inspiration and, if necessary, the opportunity to attend the silent film at 19.30 pm to the silent movie with live music accompaniment "True Heart Susie" .
