In one of their programs entitled 'PICTURES IN SOUNDS', the music of the EKKEHARD WÖLK TRIO brings together a variety of original compositions from recent years in a stimulating, multi-stylistic jazz experience between composition/arrangement and interactively communicating band improvisations. One of the main musical intentions of the long-standing trio is to place the concepts of modern jazz improvisation in a context in which they can be convincingly interwoven with influences from other musical styles, e.g. European classical music. This results in a 'jazz program music' based on classical models, especially in the live concert experience, which can ideally come together in the listener's mind to form poetic musical sequences. This eclectic style is combined with the special powerful vitality and rhythmic finesse of contemporary 'cotemporary jazz'.
